What to do when you need new people to talk to about your business?
When I first started in MLM Business back in 1997 I had the "privilege" of being involved with a company that had the "right products and the right people." They (my upline) taught me all the traditional ways to prospect and recruit. First I made my list of all my friends and family. Than we started booking meetings, showing our opportunity. Soon after we would either get the dreaded "NO" or the occasional mercy buy. We would drive hours to do a presentation only to get shot down and than drive all the way back home empty handed. Shortly after I left for a "real job" in sales and marketing did I realize that success in network marketing may only be achievable by a select few key insiders. You see, marketing in the real world is a lot different than in the Mult-level Marketing world. One key difference, real world marketing WORKS!

Think about this, when was the last time you picked up the phone and it was Wal-Mart or any other place you do business with calling to see if they can get you to come in so they can "show you" some products? Oh sure there are companies who do this but honestly how does it make you feel when they do? There is no other dreaded person in the world to do business with than a telemarketer. First what NOT to do..
I learned that buying MLM phone leads was NOT the way to get the best
MLM lead. If we want to have success in Multi-Level Marketing we have
to talk to people who want to talk with us. We need prospects who trust
us and are ready to buy. You see the key to good marketing is getting
your prospect to trust. I'm not talking about telling them you're an
honorary member of the Chamber of Commerce, but getting them to
actually want to do business with you. Sometimes even before they know
what that business even is.
You do this by doing something so
powerful that when I applied it in my marketing my sales went through
the roof! I'm talking 80% increases in a BAD economy!
What you should do.
Give them something of value for free! The best Network Marketing
lead will be a person who feels that you have their best interest in
mind. That their needs, wants and desires, are your number one priority
NOT you getting them to sign on the dotted line.
Most people who are looking for a home business opportunity are doing
so because they feel they have a need for it. Maybe they lost their job
and need the income. Or maybe they're just looking for a way to spend
more time at home, take a vacation, or buy their dream car. We've all
heard the reasons why people get involved, but when we present our
opportunity are we trying to meet their needs by showing them how? Or
are we looking for them to buy into our program.
This is why I believe one of the deadliest things you can do is talk
about your business opportunity. Let me say this, "TELLING PEOPLE ABOUT
YOUR MULTI LEVEL MARKETING BUSINESS IS WHATS KILLING YOUR BUSINESS!" If
you're talking to a prospect about your business, you are saying "I'm
trying to sell you something." One company I know teaches their people
to start there presentation with the words "This is not MLM"
The first words out of there month is to handle their prospects
objections to the their company. What this really does is instantly put
the person presenting the opportunity in a defensive role. I mean think
about it, they are defending their company and what it is or isn't even
before their prospect has a chance to see what it could possibly do for
him or her. This automatically puts the prospect in the mindset that
you are trying to talk him or her into something, walls go up and,,,
well you know what happens next. I assure you with this method your
prospect is already looking for a way out.
It's not about YOU
The first thing you should realize in all of your sales and marketing
is that it is all about the prospect. Most people who are looking for a home business opportunity are doing so for their reasons. They have needs
wants and desires that have brought them to a point in time that a home
business would get them what they are looking for. The only problem is
they don't know how. They are looking for someone to show them how.
They need a teacher. Someone who can lead them and show them how it is
possible to achieve what it is they are looking for. The problem is
they are guarded. With all the scams and shames online today how can
you expect them not to be, and more importantly how can you set
yourself apart from the sea of deceit? You give something of value to
them that they can use to calm there fears and meet there needs.. YOUR
KNOWLEDGE.
You see you do have something that is valuable to them. Something that
they need. And most importantly something they can use to meet their
needs. By giving them your knowledge of how they can have the freedom
and financial stability they are looking for you are giving them
something of value to them. Notice I did not say the knowledge of your MLM Company or your opportunity but knowledge in how to start a
home based business. You're the expert that they are looking for. The
mentor that will help them learn all the ins and outs of the business.
Not a person trying to get them to open their wallets. In fact your not
asking them for anything you are simply saying, "how can I help you
achieve your desires?"
People love knowledge. They live for it. When person receives knowledge
they feel they have something of value that few others have. Knowledge
is something we all crave. We are all looking for the inside scoop or
for someone to show us how.
So how can you use your knowledge of the Network Marketing Industry to generate
leads? That's easy! Simply start to share your knowledge of how to
start a home business in all of your marketing and in your initial
presentations. Put your prospects needs and desires first. Remember
they just want to be shown how.
